Meet Dale Rudin

Welcome!

My name is Dale Rudin. Horse training has been a passion of mine since my first childhood pony ride. As a teenager, my passion grew into a love for showing, so I joined a training barn for help. My horse and I were successful in the show ring, but I wasn’t comfortable with the methods my trainers used in the name of "performance." My horse didn’t like it either. He’d become sullen, sore, and his gaits were rough and mechanical. I wanted competitive success but not if I had to sacrifice my horse’s well-being. So, I decided to take my horse's training into my own hands.

I learned how to develop his strength and flexibility by using fundamental dressage techniques. At the same time, I restored his trust in me by building his confidence, teaching him how to do what I asked, and using positive reinforcement instead of punishing him when he made a mistake. I also took the time to develop his physical strength and flexibility, with his comfort always a top priority. This was an approach to horse training that made perfect sense to me.

Develop a horse that is strong and comfortable in his body and relaxed and confident in his mind so that he can reach his potential as an athlete and be a willing partner.

Even then when this concept was in its early stages and my techniques were far from refined, the results were amazing. My horse far exceeded my expectations and even outperformed his own conformation. He was unbeatable at shows, and there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for me. He and I had some remarkable rides. I remember that horse and the experience with a lot of gratitude, because I learned then what true horsemanship is all about.

That was 24 years ago, and I have been training horses and teaching their handlers/riders ever since. I love showing people how to have a truly connected relationship with their horse and how to work with him in a way that will give him longevity, comfort, and success as a performer. I offer horse training and instruction near my home in Middle Tennessee, and at clinics locally and throughout the country. I also share my techniques and philosophy as a contributing editor in Horse Illustrated magazine, by writing several training features every year, answering readers’ questions about their horses’ training in the Western Roundup column's “Training Talk,” and sharing a western riding tip each month. I also write the “Western Lessons” articles in each issue of Young Rider magazine. I have also been featured in the Popular Horses Series – The Quarter Horse, Horses USA, and the 2006 Paint Horse Directory. You can see more of my articles at Horse Channel.com.

Thank you for visiting my website. For me it's a real joy to be able to share my “Performance Through Partnership”™ program with people like you, because I want you and your horse to have the best possible experience.

You can find more information about "Performance Through Partnership"™ as well as free articles and tips on my website, www.dale-rudin-horse-training.com.

If you have a question, comment, inquiry about training, lessons, or clinics, or just want to say hello, feel free to contact me directly. I'm always here to lend a hand. All you have to do is ask!

Enjoy the Ride,

Dale
