Your Horse's Comfort Affects His Behavior and Performance!
Saddle pads are something that we horsemen and horsewomen can not do without. When you put a saddle on your horse's back, his back needs protection.
Your weight and the saddle itself presses against your horse's muscles. It's very easy for that pressure to interfere with circulation and muscle function. This can create discomfort, pain, and over time, muscle damage can occur.
Some horses tolerate the discomfort, while others are really eager to let you know that they aren't happy by being cranky, refusing to respond to cues, and exhibiting behaviors such as balking and bucking.
Even if it isn't obvious, even a small amount of discomfort or decreased muscle function will impact your horse's athletic ability and willingness to perform.
I am always on the lookout for products that will bring comfort to my horses. I have tried many expensive pads that claim to be therapeutic and beneficial. Some were downright lousy and others have worked pretty well, but none of them have every wowed me until I started using the Equipedic saddle pad.
Equipedic Saddle Pads
This pad employs an entirely new technology. It improves your horse's performance. It increases the oxygenated blood flow levels across the horse's back. It accelerates muscle recovery. It increases your horse's energy level. It lowers your horse's body surface temperature. It even eliminates most saddle fit problems and pressure points. Of course, if your saddle is a really bad fit for your horse, you need to replace it.
What else does the Equipedic offer? It's orthopedic, anti-slip, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and machine washable. It breathes because the Cordura outer shell isn't sealed.

My Equipedic Story
Every day I ride in my favorite saddle. It's a custom western training saddle made by
Woods Western,
and I love it. It's made very well. It has a 6.5" gullet and fits every horse, except for the really wide ones. My previous saddle pad, which was therapeutic and pricey, left dry spots behind the withers on the broad shouldered horses. I hate to admit this, but I would place a folded towel under the front of the saddle to lift it up and reduce the pressure points on the horses' backs.
I know. What I should have done is buy a saddle with a wider tree, but like you I don't always have the finances available to plunk down on a new saddle.
I ordered a
Western Equipedic saddle pad,
the reiner/roper. I was cautiously optimistic, but not expecting any miracles. When the pad arrived, I used the big horses as my test subjects. Since I already knew that my saddle didn't fit them properly, I figured that I'd know right away if the pad was going to live up to its claims.
You have to imagine my surprise when I pulled the saddle off after my first ride using the Equipedic pad, and this was on a horse that was too wide for my saddle, the sweat marks were perfectly even! Not a hair was out of place. There was a beautiful strip of dry hair down the horse's spine where air had been allowed to circulate. The horse's back was warm from working, but it wasn't nearly as hot as it would get with my previous pad and I was riding him on a very warm day in the late summer.
Needless to say, I was impressed!
I also noticed during the ride that the saddle didn't slip or shift like it usually did. The horse also traveled in a much rounder frame. He was looser in his back and began the session with a longer and more fluid stride than I'd gotten on previous rides.
I know that the Equipedic pad does more for my horses than I am even aware of, but what's most important to me is that I can see how much it improves saddle fit and my horses' backs are comfortable and healthy.
I use the Equipedic pads every day and recommend them to all of my clients and friends. You can find more information about the Western saddle pads and order one for yourself
